Madeira (regional capital: Funchal) is an archipelago located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal, with a population of 255,000. The following strategic priority areas have been selected in Madeira's RIS3 framework: Tourism; Sea technologies and resources; Health and wellness; Agro-food quality; Sustainability and infrastructure asset management; Bio-sustainability; Energy, mobility and climate change; Information and communication technologies (ICT).
