Background

The North-West Regional Development Agency is a public utility non-profit organization functioning in base of the public Romanian Law on Regional Development in the NUTS II area covering 6 counties from Northern Transylvania. It is considered a public equivalent body, governed by public law. For the past 20 years, the NWRDA has been responsible with the elaboration and monitoring of the North-West Regional Development Strategy and recently also of the Regional Smart Specialization Strategy. The NWRDA has a wide experience in implementing research projects funded by the European Commission, having also more than 20 years’ experience in managing pre-accession instruments, Structural Funds, acting as the Intermediate Body for implementing the 2007-2013 and 2014–2020 Regional Operational Programmes as well as part of the 2007-2013 Competitiveness Programme. Our main advantage as partners in this project is the already built connectivity and interaction with the public sector (Communes, City Halls, County Councils, DMOs, Tourist Information Centres etc.) at regional level, which can facilitate the research undertaken within the project.
